The license is valid anywhere in Louisiana for 30 days from date of issuance, with a 24-hour waiting period before the ceremony. Applicants can start the application online before coming to the courthouse. Signing options are both parties before a deputy clerk, one party before a deputy clerk with the other before a notary, or both before a notary. By Louisiana law the Clerk of Court transfers over forty percent of marriage license fees to the Program for Victims of Family Violence. The $50 cash-only Review of Record from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office that appears elsewhere on the clerk's site applies to expungements, not to marriage licenses. The clerk's old jpclerkofcourt.us domain now redirects to jeffparishclerk.gov.
