Every applicant must complete the online marriage license application first; the office cannot issue a license without it. There are then two routes. A completely contact free route with no appointment is available when at least one party is currently a St. Louis County resident, both upload valid government photo IDs and both answer the computer generated security questions, after which the license can be picked up at any time or mailed the same day. Otherwise you must book a virtual application interview through the QLess scheduler and walk-ins are not accepted. The Clayton office is open Monday to Thursday only, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
