Under Local Rule 53 the Marriage Department will not process payment after 4:15 p.m., and couples still in line may be turned away and asked to return another day; office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. A Cuyahoga County license may be issued if one applicant is a current resident of Cuyahoga County with evidence of current residence, regardless of where the ceremony happens; if neither applicant is an Ohio resident the application must be made in the county where the ceremony is performed. The license is valid for 60 days and the officiant must file the Certificate of Marriage Return within 30 days. Certified copies are $2.00.
